Business Coalition Releases Platform Detailing Top Issues for City of Atlanta Candidates

Committee for a Better Atlanta outlines issues important to the business and civic community

ATLANTA (May 22, 2025) –  Inclusive economic growth, safe neighborhoods, and project delivery of major taxpayer-funded initiatives are among the top issues in the Committee for a Better Atlanta’s 2025 policy platform released today. The policy platform is a comprehensive assessment of what elected leaders must address to ensure Atlanta remains a vibrant and resilient city for all.

Created with the input of influential business and civic leaders, as well as insights from a poll measuring top issues for City of Atlanta residents, CBA’s platform provides a framework to help inform voters and candidates on the top issues to consider in this election cycle.

CBA is a nonpartisan coalition of business and civic organizations founded in 1996 to help educate voters and ensure a healthy business climate for businesses and civic organizations in the City of Atlanta. Board members include Atlanta Gas Light, Central Atlanta Progress, NCR Atleos, The Coca-Cola Company, Buckhead Coalition, and others.

“Atlanta has another opportunity to shine on the world stage in the coming years, and we need elected leaders who are up for the challenge,” said Tiffany Callaway Ferrell, Co-Chair, Committee for a Better Atlanta and Vice President, Operations Atlanta Gas Light. “A truly world-class city delivers on the ‘big’ by prioritizing the ‘small,’ including core services, affordable housing, and well-maintained neighborhoods. CBA’s platform lays out the issues we’re looking forward to discussing with candidates on the ballot this year.”

CBA’s 2025 policy platform focuses on four key areas:

  • Strong governance and partnerships, including a renewed focus on project delivery of major taxpayer-funded initiatives
  • Inclusive economic growth, including advancing transformative projects that turn underused spaces into vibrant spaces
  • Safe and thriving neighborhoods, including strengthening comprehensive solutions to improve housing affordability and reduce street homelessness
  • A sustainable and connected city, including prioritizing critical infrastructure upgrades for long-term reliability and safety

Transportation, traffic, and housing were the top issues for Atlanta voters in the upcoming elections, according to a poll commissioned by CBA. Public safety and crime were identified as issues that have greatly improved over the past four years, while homelessness, transportation investment, and affordable housing were identified as issues that have worsened over the past four years.

Candidates for Mayor, Council President, and City Council races will be invited to participate in an upcoming Candidate Forum. Additional insights about candidates will come from their responses to a written questionnaire and interview with CBA board members. Candidates who successfully submit their questionnaire and participate in interviews will be scored based on their overall preparedness for office and ability to address the issues outlined in the policy platform. CBA does not endorse any candidates.

“We’re committed to helping ensure that voters can make informed choices in the 2025 City of Atlanta elections about who will serve our city in the best way,” said Jordan Dawson, Co-Chair, Committee for a Better Atlanta and Head of Global Government Relations and Community Affairs, NCR Atleos. “Those who will serve will be tasked with creating a lasting legacy, ensuring we are an Atlanta for all.”
